Madera Furniture - The Blog

This Blog is about my experiences as a furniture maker in the Green Age. All of the pieces you see are made out of recycled local wood and are finished with earth friendly top coats. Functional and one of a kind....Always.

Madera Furniture is a fresh, imaginative furniture company aimed at offering high quality, moderately priced, one of a kind furniture pieces using local recycled wood and eco-friendly finishes. We view ourselves as equal partners with our customers, our community and our environment. We aim to become regionally recognized, interested in educating the public that great furniture can be stylish, can be “green” and can be low impact, all at the same time.

Madera Furniture: Dean Stubbings is a furniture maker and storeowner that specializes in functional artisan furniture made out of local recycled wood. A husband and father now, Dean started his business back in 1996 when he was also working for Urban Ore in Berkeley, California. He salvaged wood from dumpsters as well a bought salvaged wood from his work place. He then turned it into beautiful benches and outdoor patio furniture. His clients at the time were local nurseries as well as The Wooden Duck. Prior to getting into the recycled furniture business, Dean was a carpenter interested in many aspects of home rebuilding and landscape design and structure. Today Dean offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor recycled furniture – from one of a kind farm tables built to order, to rustic garden benches perfect for the eco conscious client.
